Versatile Rising Senior Ready for a Breakout Campaign

After closing the 2025 season with his best football, rising senior Wyatt Mann enters his final season at Coahulla Creek poised to become one of the most impactful two-way players in the region.

The 6-foot-2 wide receiver and outside linebacker is coming off a junior campaign that showcased just how dangerous he can be on both sides of the football. Mann returns as the Colts’ leading receiver after hauling in 25 receptions for 332 yards in 2025, including a 100-yard performance against Union County late in the season.

His impact wasn’t limited to offense.

During the final four games of the year, Mann forced a fumble, recovered a fumble, and intercepted a pass while continuing to establish himself as one of the defense’s most reliable playmakers. He finished the season with 43.5 tackles and 10.5 tackles for loss, ranking fourth on the team in tackles and third in tackles for loss.

His combination of length, athleticism, and physicality makes him a difficult matchup at wide receiver, where his ability to stretch the field and win contested catches creates problems for opposing defenses. Defensively, those same traits allow him to cover ground in space, support the run, and make plays in the passing game from his outside linebacker position.

Now entering his third year as a starter, Mann has set high expectations for himself.

“My personal goals for the 2026 season are to become a more complete player on both sides of the ball, get more tackles at linebacker, and be a reliable playmaker at wide receiver,” Mann said. “I also want to improve my strength and speed and be more consistent every game.”

Those individual goals align with what he hopes to accomplish as a team.

“My team goals for the 2026 season are to win our region, make a playoff run, and have a strong team where everyone is accountable and playing for each other,” Mann said. “Worrying about the players next to me doing their job shouldn’t be a thought.”

The confidence that comes with those goals stems from the way the Colts finished last season.

“Finishing the 2025 season strong gave us confidence and showed what we’re capable of when we play together and stay disciplined,” Mann said.

Mann believes his biggest strength is the physical style he brings every Friday night.

“The strongest part of my game is my physicality and effort,” he said. “I feel like once I get the ball it’s going to take your all and more just to bring me down. I also like to think if I touch you you’re going down on the defensive side of the ball.”

Still, he knows there’s room to grow before his senior season begins.

“I need to improve my route running and overall technique, especially at wide receiver, and continue getting faster and stronger to compete at a higher level,” Mann said.

Head Coach Drew Carter has seen that development firsthand and believes Mann’s emergence over the second half of last season was no accident.

“I think last year was a combination of Wyatt finding himself as a player and the coaching staff figuring out how he helps our team the most,” Carter said. “We saw him play more physically and with more confidence throughout the season. We expect to see that from the very beginning this season.”

With his size, versatility, and confidence continuing to grow, Mann is positioned to play an even larger role in 2026. If the way he finished last season is any indication, Colt Country can expect plenty of big plays from one of The Creek’s most dynamic senior leaders.
