As preparations for the 2026 season continue at The Creek, few players embody the grit, toughness, and relentless motor of Coahulla Creek football quite like rising senior linebacker Branson Lowery.
Lowery enters his senior season after a breakout 2025 campaign in which he led the Colts with 76 total tackles while also rewriting the school record book. His 16.5 tackles for loss established a new single-season school record, showcasing his ability to disrupt opposing offenses and make plays in the backfield.
His performance earned him 2nd Team All-Region honors, along with All-State Honorable Mention recognition from RecruitGeorgia.com.
For Lowery, last season’s strong finish created momentum that has carried directly into the offseason.
“A strong finish to the 2025 season helped build my momentum going into the offseason by giving me confidence to play at my best full speed with 100% effort and with no hesitation,” Lowery said.
That growing confidence has helped elevate multiple areas of his game, especially when he’s attacking downhill and playing instinctively.
“The element that makes my game stronger is when I don’t hesitate and start making plays,” Lowery said. “It gets me hungry and wanting more.”
Despite the accolades, Lowery says improvement remains a major focus heading into his final season at The Creek.
“The element of my game that I need to improve is not hesitating and getting to the ball, and also seeing the field,” Lowery said. “Another element of my game that I need to improve is helping my teammates do their job and not only lift them up but make them take accountability when they mess up.”
That leadership mindset is part of what the coaching staff wants to see from one of the defense’s most experienced players.
Head Coach Drew Carter believes Lowery’s development last season only scratched the surface of his potential.
“We’ve always known what kind of raw ability Branson has,” Carter said. “He’s fast, strong, and physical. Last year we saw him start to understand the scheme, and that led to him playing faster and more confident. When he plays like that, nobody can block him.”
As he enters his senior year, Lowery’s goals are set high both individually and for the team.
“My goal for the 2026 season is to be an all-state linebacker,” Lowery said. “My team goals for the 2026 season is be the best player that I can be for my team and lead by example.”
With production, experience, and confidence all returning to the middle of the defense, Colt Country will be counting on Lowery to anchor one of the toughest units in the region this fall.
