Senior Playmaker Ready to Take the Next Step for Coahulla Creek in 2026

As Coahulla Creek prepares for the 2026 football season, one of the Colts’ most dynamic returning playmakers is poised for an even bigger year. Tyler Douglas, who contributes on both sides of the ball at running back and defensive back, enters the season looking to build on an impressive 2025 campaign and help lead the program to greater success.

Douglas proved to be one of Coahulla Creek’s most versatile offensive weapons last season. He rushed for 646 yards and four touchdowns while adding 290 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns. His impact wasn’t limited to offense, however, as he also made game-changing plays on defense, including an interception return for a touchdown.

Now entering the 2026 season, Douglas has set ambitious goals for himself and his team.

“I personally want to double my rushing yards this year and have many more receiving yards,” Douglas said.

His focus extends beyond individual accomplishments. As one of the team’s key returning contributors, Douglas wants to help elevate the entire program.

“I want to lead my team to many more victories this year and for us all to play our hearts out for our teammates,” he said.

The Colts finished the 2025 season on a positive note, creating momentum that has carried into the offseason. Douglas believes that strong finish has helped shape the team’s mindset heading into the new year.

“The strong finish allowed us to have a more positive mindset going into the offseason and allowing us to use the momentum to work hard in the weight room,” Douglas explained.

Douglas’ versatility makes him a valuable asset, but he believes one area of his game stands out above the rest.

“Right now I feel like my hands are my strongest element of my game,” he said.

His ability to make plays as both a runner and receiver was evident throughout 2025, and those reliable hands should continue to be a major weapon for the Colts’ offense this fall.

Like any dedicated athlete, Douglas is focused on improving as well. He has identified an area where he wants to take the next step in his development.

“I feel like I need to improve on making a play happen where there is little chance of success,” Douglas said.

That commitment to growth, combined with his production and leadership, makes Douglas one of the Colts’ most exciting players to watch in 2026. If he can build upon last season’s numbers and continue developing his all-around game, he could become one of the area’s most impactful playmakers.
