Colts prepared for final game of regular season

12 Senior Colt football players will play their final game at Colt Stadium

As we head into our last game of the regular season, we have seen overall great improvement from our Colts. This week we face our last opponent the Ringgold Tigers. Preparing for the last game of this season there are mixed feelings of determination and emotion in the air. This Friday night marks not only the end of a long-hard-fought season but also the final time the senior class will take the field in a Colts uniform. Senior DL Colby Ewart explains that it’s “been bittersweet but all good things must come to an end eventually. It has been a fun ride these past four years and I feel like we have a chance to come out with a victory and we proved what we could do last week.” We also hear from senior team captain Chevy Joyce and he tells us being a senior leader has shown him that you can “lead without yelling at each other” he also tells us that he is “ready to give all I have left and I am ready to win.”

With senior night on deck, the team is ready to finish what they started with pride, effort, and heart. Head Coach Drew Carter explains “These seniors are an example of commitment. They have gotten better every year and every game. They show that the process program is more important than results. Their legacy will be one that helps grow.”

All week practice has been about precision and accountability. Our coaches have emphasized cleaning up mistakes and staying mentally sharp from the first whistle to the last play. Coach Carter tells us “We’re so close, especially the last few weeks. It’s time to make those plays that will put us over the edge.” The message for the game has been very clear. This is their last chance to leave it all on the field. Ewart knows what he needs to do to be prepared and that is “to get after the quarterback more and be aggressive all four quarters.” The Colts know what’s at stake and have been working with intensity, determined to come out on top. Joyce notes he needs to “play all four quarters during all three phases of the game.”

The Colts have shown tremendous growth throughout the season. Learning from every challenge and becoming a tighter, more focused team. This final regular season game is a chance to prove how much they’ve improved. Our Colts have improved not just in skill, but also in unity and determination. Carter says “We just have to make the plays. We can’t miss opportunities when there are plays to be made.” The team knows that their opponent will bring intensity, but the Colts are confident after proving that they can face a challenging team in the last game. Our Colts have the effort and drive to rise to the occasion. Joyce tells us this last game he is “giving it my all and I am not slacking because it’s the last week and we have to stay focused.” Ewart also tells us this last game he is “executing on all three sides of the ball to the best of my ability for this last game.”

As we come to a closing of the season, again, it is carrying extra emotion. Carter states “I am excited to see our guys at home one last time. Our energy and passion is so great when we’re at the Creek.”

Friday will be their final regular season game, and they’re ready to leave everything on the field. The energy coming from our players has been nothing but passion, confidence, and determination. Kickoff is set for 7:30 at Colt Stadium; the Colts are ready to play with pride, ready to fight for each other, and ready to close the season the right way. With the stands expected to be full of our Colt Country, the Colts are prepared to give their all and finish STRONG against the Tigers.
