Coahulla Creek gets back in win column on a record setting night
After 3 straight road games, the Colts made a powerful return home Friday night, defeating the Murray County Indians 45-0. The home crowd had plenty to cheer about as the Colts came out strong from the opening play and never looked back. Head Coach Drew Carter explained how he was “super proud” of our players and the way they made the night look, making our team stand out. QB Waelyn Baliles connected with senior WR Kobe King just 11 seconds into the game for a touchdown, setting the tone for what would become a memorable night. The momentum continued when Wyatt Mann returned a blocked punt for a touchdown on the ensuing drive, Senior Kicker Edward Alvarez followed with a field goal, extending the lead to 17-0 in the first quarter.

Before the end of the first quarter, Baliles found King again for a touchdown strike, giving the Colts a commanding 24-0 lead. King continued his standout performance throughout the night, setting a new school record for most receiving yards in a single game (207), and tying Manny Dominguez for most receiving TDs in a single game (3). Coach Carter tells us “I feel like if you got a guy with three touchdowns and two hundred yards in the air, Kobe King is not hard to talk about.” The Colts defense also made big plays including a fumble recovery and interception made by King. Friday night’s game proved King is dangerous on both sides of the ball.
To continue the night Tyler Douglas added a 46 yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter. He finished the game with 100 yards rushing on just 13 carries, marking his 2nd straight 100 yard rushing performance. The icing on the cake came when Baliles connected with King for the final time, a 67 yard touchdown pass to end the 3rd quarter. Everyone in the stands were proud of our Colts performance against the Indians. Coach Carter notes “You finally style a bunch of stuff, come together, and the guys believe they can make plays, and that’s the result you get when those things come together.” The win makes a strong statement for our Colts as they return home victorious and confident.
As the Colts celebrate this big home victory, the focus now shifts to this coming Friday’s matchup against Union County. Kickoff is set for 7:30, and the team is eager to carry their momentum on the road once again. After proving what they’re capable of in front of their home crowd, the Colts want the same energy in the stands at Union County. With confidence high and the team clicking on both sides of the ball, they’ll look to bring that same fire to Union County and come home with another win.
