Coahulla Creek returning for first home game in over a month
After a long bye week the Colts hit the road heading to their next matchup with the LFO Warriors. Our Colts started off looking promising, but as the night continued the Colts fell short 42-21. The players showed a lot more potential than they did our last few games. This game our players showed more confidence on the field, along with more confidence off the field. Head Coach Drew Carter explains that “our guys were really prepared, and I think we saw it throughout the whole game.”
During the first quarter the Colts jumped out to a quick start. As soon as we kicked the ball to LFO, they fumbled and it was recovered by Branson Lowery. A few plays later, senior WR Kobe King caught a short 4-yard touchdown to give Coahulla a 7-0 lead. After forcing LFO into a 3-and-out, the Colts’ offense drove down the field again, scoring on a Waelyn Baliles touchdown run to put them up 14-0. Coach Carter emphasized how our players “answered the call, we look more confident,” especially in the first half.

As the game continued the Warriors continued to score points on our Colts. However, the Colts did not let this stop them. The Warriors fumble the ball for a second time, leaving it up to senior DL Jackson Lowery to recover it in the second quarter. The Colts drove down the field before halftime, with a change to tie at 21-21, but we subject a questionable fumble call, just 4 yards away from a touchdown. Coach Carter tells us “I think we had a lot more energy and some juice in us.”
As we came back from halftime the team was still in the fight. With more plays made by our seniors the team stayed hyped. Senior DB Zahir Solis made an interception in the 4th quarter, making everyone in the stands and all the players on the sidelines go crazy. Along with an amazing throw by Baliles to King, gaining huge yardage. With these remarkable plays we expect a much better second half of the season.
As we keep our momentum from this game and head into our next game we will continue to do great things. Join us this coming Friday at the CREEK for our game against Murray County. Come dressed in your best redneck outfits to support our Colts. We expect a big crowd this Friday as we have a home game after traveling 3 games in a row. We are proud of our Colts and are ready to see how next Friday goes!
