Colts focused on what’s next after falling at Rockmart last week

“Still a lot to play for” in season’s 2nd half

After another trip south last Friday, the Colts were defeated by the Rockmart Jackets. While the final score didn’t reflect the full story of the game, it was clear that the Colts showed signs of growth and improvement from the week before. The matchup itself was against a well-disciplined and talented team, but the Colts brought noticeable energy, determination, and teamwork on the field. Head Coach Drew Carter emphasized how “our guys never wanted to quit,” regardless of who the opponent was

Standout performances in the game were seen from both sides of the ball. One of the biggest highlights in the game came from our WR Wyatt Mann, who delivered one of his best games this season. He led the team with 53 yards receiving, including the longest offensive play of the night, a 34 yard catch where he broke multiple tackles, and drug numerous Rockmart defenders downfield. Carter explains “Wyatt Mann played one of his better games tonight, and that was good for his confidence and teammates to see that.” The Colt’s defense stepped up with some impressive tackles during the game. Including Luke Turner recording his first sack of the season. Branson Lowery finished the game 10 total tackles.

Even though the Colts couldn’t overcome the Jackets in the end, the team displayed encouraging signs that point toward future success. As the team finishes off their bye week, and transitions into the 2nd half of the season, they turn their focus to what’s ahead of them. Many of the goals that this team wants to accomplish are still within reach, and Coach Carter says “We’ve got to keep that at the front of our minds on a daily basis. And it can’t just be on Friday nights… it’s got to be every day in the weight room and every day at practice.” Carter adds that there is “Still a lot to play for this season, and we believe as a staff that if we can instill the right kind of confidence in our kids, we can go make something big happen over these final 5 games of the regular season.”
