“1-0” mentality

Colts taking it one game at a time as they open region play this week.

The Colts are preparing diligently for their upcoming region opener against North Cobb Christian, hoping to ride the momentum of their first win of the season last week. The Colts objective is clear, as TE/LB River Choate says the Colts want to “win and start out 1-0 in the region.”

Head Coach Drew Carter was very proud of his team’s performance during our first home game last week. He noted “the fact we were able to overcome some clunkiness in the first half (because it would have been easy to say here we go again) but the fact we were able to stay confident, stay focused, and trust each other, that’s when we start seeing plays be made.”

The Colts have adopted a strong mindset for this week’s game. WR/DB Ellijah Faraji reveals that his mindset is focused on how “this week’s game is going to be a challenge, but if we do it right, we can accomplish anything.” The matchup this week will be as much a mental test as a physical one, requiring the players to approach the Eagles with resilience and focus.

After an impressive game against the Chattooga Indians on Friday night, the Colts are working on more offense and special teams plays while they prepare for the challenge this week. Both offense and defense performed well in the previous game and showed significant progress, which the Colts hope to build upon this week. Choate continues saying “the special teams and offense really surprised me last game, and I think we need that energy to feed off of this week.”

The pressure is added to the Colts as they face a new team and region opener this week. The coaches are trying to channel that, and challenge the guys to up their focus and use what they did last week against the Indians to build some confidence. Even though Carter understands this is going to be a tough game and understands the difficulty of the task, he is still confident in his team because “they look up to the challenge and they look excited to start region play.” As Faraji states the Colts are ready to “go out there and win, and shock them with a win for the region opener.”

The Colts are eager to build on last week’s win as they prepare for the region opener against North Cobb Christian. This week we are having middle school night at the Creek. We would love to see all of Colt Country in the stands this Friday with kickoff set for 7:30. The Colts are determined to make a strong statement to begin their region campaign. The game can be heard on the Coahulla Creek Sports Network.
