Colts prep for home opener at The Creek

Coahulla Creek looks to play mistake free football this week

Tomorrow Colt Stadium opens back up for the first time since Game 8 of last season for home opener against the Chattooga Indians. As we get back into action the Colts are practicing hard and building back their momentum after a disappointing loss to open the season against the Northwest Bruins. They are working hard this week whether or not the weather permits it, they have been in the weight room, and watching film, preparing for the Indians.

Coach Drew Carter tells us that the Colts are specifically working hard this week to overcome “a handful of key mistakes” that he says “had a big impact on the game and our ability to focus and be confident in what we are doing.”

Although Coahulla Creek did not pull off the most impressive game last week, the team and coaching staff are expecting more from themselves in Game 2. Carter states “our guys are hungry to get back out there and prove that’s not us.”

After getting a taste of success in a win to wrap up the preseason vs. Gordon Central, the Colts are striving for a win that counts in the actual win column. Colts quarterback Waelyn Baliles tells us “the mindset is to win” and the team is ready to bounce back after losing and ready to show their improvements from last week on the field this Friday.

Following a standout effort vs. the Bruins, Colts senior WR/DB Kobe King says he believes the Colts can “dominate on both sides of the ball” adding that he believes they are going “Show more of how our offense can perform… I think we are ready.”

As we saw in our last game the Colts fell far behind during the first 3 quarters not showing the offense any justice, but this week King tells us “we are ready and learning from our mistakes.”

This Friday is ‘Feeder School Night’ at The Creek. All elementary feeder school students (from Beaverdale, Cohutta, Dawnville, and Varnell) can attend for FREE. Therefore, we would love to see a huge crowd in our stands this week for our first home game, creating a hostile environment for the road team, and bringing more confidence to our players.

Kickoff this Friday for the Coahulla Creek Colts and Chattooga Indians is set for 7:30pm. You can hear the game on the Coahulla Creek Sports Network.
