The Creek starts with tough road test against familiar foe Northwest
The Colts are gearing up for their first kickoff of the regular season tomorrow night, and are going into the season with great pride after a preseason win over the Gordon Central Warriors. The Creek has continued to practice to build on last week’s performance before the game on Thursday. The team and fans are building excitement for the kickoff with a pep rally and a lot of Colt Pride. With the outcome of last week’s game, we are expecting to see a great game tomorrow night with a huge crowd.
As the team has been preparing for tomorrow night’s contest in Tunnel Hill, senior RB/LB Chris Ewart tells us that the Colts have had a “Hard week of practice just preparing for the physical game that is going to happen on Thursday.” Coahulla Creek acknowledges the team they are playing and are taking every step to make sure they are on their A-game. Ewart states “I’m preparing to be the best that I can be on Thursday, run the ball as hard as I can, and I’m really focusing on the little things that I have to do.” Rep-by-rep and play-by-play the Colts have been building their momentum to take on the Bruins.
After a great game on Friday from cornerback Brandon Manis, he was very elated with the 2 interceptions he made. Manis claims “I feel good, I was able to make some plays for the team.” As Manis prepares for our game tomorrow night against the Bruins he says “it felt good to win, but we’re not satisfied, and we need to work harder to win this game.”
The Colts have been working on and off the field for the 2025 season opener, dating all the way back to January with the winter weight program, and this week that work finally culminates in a game. Coach Drew Carter tells us “We started our gameplan last week.” Furthermore, Carter says that the team is ready to execute the gameplan, “I expect to see a confident bunch after we’ve progressed so well the last two scrimmages, the guys are feeling good about what they’re doing, and they believe in each other.”
The Colts are ready, not just for a game, but for a fight. The Colts are showing so much progress, we can not wait to see them for the first game of the regular season. Come out tomorrow night to Northwest Whitfield High School to cheer on our Colts while they face the Bruins in our most competitive, fun, and overall loudest game of the year. Kickoff is set for 7:30pm, and the game can be heard on the Coahulla Creek Sports Network.
