2025 Player Spotlight: Kobe King

Two-way starter has high hopes for senior season

For the past 2 seasons, Kobe King has been an anchor in the Coahulla Creek Colts’ secondary at his cornerback position. In addition to his CB duties, King also added the responsibilities of being a starting wide receiver in 2024.

King has thrived in both roles. He was named All-Region Honorable Mention on defense last year, and offensively he lead the Colts with 27 receptions, and was 2nd in receiving yards (235 yards).

Going into his senior season, his primary personal goals center around improving himself on both sides of the ball.

“I want to lead (the team) in every receiving category, and have no big plays made against me on defense.”

Like several other of his teammates have expressed, his primary goal this year is his team getting things right.

“The team is getting after it in the weight room every day. We’re putting in the work with our position groups on the field every morning.”

King is hoping that work will translate into on-field success come this fall. His goals for the team this year include The Creek “making it to state for the 2nd time in school history” and “having a winning season for the 2nd time in school history”.

To accomplish those goals, the Colts will have to lean on the experience of Kobe King. Going into his 3rd year as a starer, he plans to use that to “become more of a leader” and “know the offense and defense better.”

As the offseason progresses, his excitement is building. “I can’t wait to get back out there and change things; knowing we can do better than last year.”
