All-Region LB looking to rack up big numbers in senior campaign
If you watched a Coahulla Creek football game last season, then you likely saw No. 7 make a big play for the Colts’ defense at some point.
Rising Senior Chris Ewart filled up the stat column in 2024, on his way to earning 7-2A 2nd Team All-Region honors. He finished the season with 28.5 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 3 pass breakups, 2 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, 1 sack, and 1 fumble recovery. Ewart says he hopes to continue that trend in 2025.

“One of my personal goals this year is to have at least 1 of every stat in the defensive stat column.” He nearly accomplished that in 2024, registering a defensive stat in every category except 1 – a defensive touchdown.
His big play efforts made a significant impact for The Creek, leading the team in turnovers.
“I put a big emphasis on making those kinds of plays. Coach Carter always talks about it [forcing turnovers] so I try and implement that into my game.”
After coming off of a disappointing 1-9 season, he says he and the team have been working extremely hard this offseason to make things right.
“I am the most motivated I have ever been. Last year was an embarrassment to me. We are not that type of program, and I think everybody will see that this year.”
Ewart has high hopes for Coahulla Creek getting things back on track in 2025. His team goals include having a winning record, and making it back to the playoffs for the 2nd time in school history.
