Coahulla Creek excited to play in front of televised crowd again
The Colts are preparing to end their season as strong as they can. With only two games left, they want to leave their mark on the field. Coaches and players have worked hard this season and are ready to hit the road and play a close opponent, the North Murray Mountaineers.
There were several aspects of last week’s game against Union Coach Carter was proud of. “We did some good stuff. There were times where our defense got some key stops and had some negative plays. And there were times where our offense was able to make some explosive plays and put some really good drives together.”
However, these moments did not appear consistently enough to end with a win on the scoreboard. TE/LB River Choate was proud of the strategy and plans that were laid out for him and his teammates. River tells us “Our team was in the right places and our coaches did a really good job having a strategy for us, but they just out-physicaled us in all parts of the game, offense and defense.”
Physicality has been the team’s biggest focus this week. RB/LB Chris Ewart explains that the biggest issue he saw in last week’s performance was just the fact that they lacked the physicality they needed to win the game. He also tells us that he has seen that start to change this week. “I think we have been a lot more physical this week. I think we have worked together as a team and we are going to come out Friday and be a lot more prepared than we were last Friday.” River adds by saying “We have just been trying to be more physical because the next two upcoming games are going to be very physical games… we are going to try and be the hammer and not the nail this week.”
With physicality being addressed, coaches are excited to see what the results will be from this matchup. Everyone wants to see this team have a strong finish to their season. River says “I think as we have gone through the season, we have become a much stronger and better team. So I think these next two weeks we will just keep getting better going into next season. I think we can finish off strong for these seniors.”
Although this season has not been the most ideal record for this team, improvement has surged every week. We hope to see the results of the hard work and dedication of this team shown in these final two games.
The Colts will be more than appreciative of your support as they face the Mountaineers this Friday. The Colts will be playing at the Mountaineer Stadium with kickoff moving up to 7pm due to the game being televised. The game will be televised on The CW Chattanooga.
