“Need to play all 4 quarters”

Colts looking to put together a complete game this week

Coahulla Creek is getting ready to hit the road for the first time in over a month. After a tough homecoming loss to LFO this past Friday, the Colts are hoping to make a big change in this week’s performance. Coahulla wants to walk away satisfied with their effort and the result on the scoreboard tomorrow night at Murray County.

The Colts did not come away with that feeling following their efforts in last Friday’s game. Although they had the best game yet for offensive yardage and points, the overall game was not a success. Coach Carter says “As a coach you are really looking at the missed opportunities. I feel like we left some points on the board.” Carter notes that he feels like the team did not play a complete game, “I don’t think we did a good job playing 4 quarters. Our energy and focus level in the first half was not very good. We are looking to improve on that.”

At the beginning of this week, Coach Carter shared about the honest and open dialogue he had with his team. “The team meeting on Monday, I was pretty tough on our guys… I explained how disappointed I was with the mistakes that I hadn’t seen in a few weeks, and the regression in that part, and our energy level not being up to our standard.” Players are working especially hard to make these changes in their game.

Senior WR/DB Andrew Russell has one goal for he and his teammates. “I am hoping that we all play as a team together. Last game we definitely did not, not at all. But I just hope we all re-group and have that team chemistry.”

Junior DB Zahir Solis tells us that the number one characteristic that he has seen in the team this week is leadership. He tells us that his teammates have put in the effort to “pick each other up.” The team connection is still strong, even after a tough game.

Russell is aware of the doubts surrounding he and his team. “Some people think we are an awful team, and I don’t like that mindset. But I know that our team agrees that we can actually win a game, and we aren’t as bad as the 0-6 record might indicate.”

The Colts make the short trip to Chatsworth to take on the Murray County Indians, and would appreciate as much support as they can get. Kickoff is set for 7:30pm, and it can be heard on the Coahulla Creek Sports Network.
