Colts looking to move past “inexperience” and produce wins in the season’s 2nd half
The Creek stadium lights are coming back on this Friday night. After their 2nd bye week, the Colts are preparing the 2024 season’s home stretch, beginning with the LFO Warriors Friday night. They are feeling the best they have all season, and are looking to leave the woes of the 1st half of the season in the past.
“We are relatively an inexperienced team up to this point, but that can’t be an excuse anymore,” says Coach Drew Carter. “We are hopefully able to move past the mistakes of being a young team, and hit the reset button here in the 2nd half of the season.”
The players are holding themselves to high standards, and want to see that transition to a successful end to the season. Senior center and team captain Isaac McGill has made it a personal goal for tomorrow “to win and do everything it takes to get there.” Our second team captain Chevy Joyce follows and says that he simply wants “to perform to the best of my ability.”
The bye week has also given advantages for the Colts tomorrow night. Chevy tells us that he personally does not enjoy going a week without playing, but he thinks that it was a “great opportunity to get our legs back underneath us to play LFO.” Offensive and Defensive Lineman Colby Ewart says that the bye week has made the team “really motivated this week and they just really want to play and get out on the field.”
The Colts are also playing with extra motivation to perform well, as Friday is Coahulla Creek’s homecoming game. They want to put on a show for the big home crowd.
As they set their sights on the LFO Warriors tomorrow night, the team is confident in their abilities to execute and come away victorious. “I think if we perform how we have been in practice, then we have what it takes to beat LFO,” says Chevy Joyce.
Fans are ready to see this team step back on the field, especially in light of Homecoming. Kickoff will be tomorrow night at 7:30 with the presentation of the Homecoming Court at halftime, so come out and support your Colts tomorrow night!
