Friday night’s game first at The Creek in nearly a month
There have been empty stands at home for the Colts the past three weeks, but the lights are coming back on this Friday. After two away games and a bye week for Creek Football, everyone could not be more excited for the home match up against Sonoraville. Most importantly, the Colts have put in a lot of hard work during the bye week, and we are hoping to show the results in front of a home crowd Friday night.
The bye week was just what the Colts needed to push forward after a tough loss against North Cobb Christian. Head Coach Drew Carter shares “We had a tough time at the end of the game against North Cobb Christian… the game had gotten out of hand.” It was a disappointing and tough loss for Carter’s team to walk away with nothing for them on the scoreboard. However, his team did not leave empty handed. Carter tells us that they have been able to work on improvement by learning from their mistakes. Carter describes the bye week by saying “We were able to kind of re-center ourselves and refocus on the fundamentals and re-sharpen ourselves on basics… that has been really important.”
Despite the tough losses, effort has not diminished from the Creek. Offensive and defensive lineman Colby Ewart wants this Friday’s game to fuel their fire towards success. Colby says “This is our second region game and I feel like we have to win this one to get motivation for the team because the team really needs motivation right now.” Wide Right and defensive back Brandon Manis seconds this statement by commenting that “it will help our morale if we can get a big team win.”
The Colts are specifically ready for this Friday’s game because of the rough start to the season. They feel that and the bye week have seemed to pull the team tighter together. When asked what he has improved at practice, Manis notes he has focused on “being a better teammate. Lifting each other up instead of just pointing fingers at one another.” Ewart shared how he noticed the team unity showing in the bye week. “This week the team has really been helping everybody up and helping set guys into where they need to be – just overall helping everyone be where they need to be and know what they need to do.”
Playing at home is also going to be a big deal for our Colts. Carter recalls “We had two tough road games against two really good opponents. I think being back at home, back in front of a home crowd is important and really energizing for our guys.” Ewart confirms this when he mentions that “the team will really appreciate everyone coming out to support us.”
Coahulla Creek is scheduled to kickoff vs. the Sonoraville Phoenix this Friday at 7:30pm. The game can be heard on the Coahulla Creek Sports Network.
This Friday’s game is also Rec & Middle School team night. All future Colts football players should arrive at 6:30pm with their jerseys on (this will get you in the game free).
